The following annual governance checklist and decision flowchart about when a NFP Car Club needs to file a tax return was developed by the AOMC as one of the recommended outcomes of this Management Seminar in order to encourage good governance by Club committees and to address any remaining confusion about ABN’s and taxable status.

All Club committee’s are encouraged to complete this Governance Checklist every year to ensure they are meeting their legal responsibilities.

When does a Not-For-Profit car club need to file a tax return? Reveiw the following decision workflow to see where your club stands.

NB: this is general information only, but may be used by NFP clubs to help determine if they need an ABN and need to file a tax return. It is not legal advice and clubs should confirm their own status
